The Kura Digital Foundation Academy brings free, hands-on technology workshops to high schools in townships and rural areas — after school, twice a year. No cost to the school. No disruption to the curriculum. Just skills that change trajectories.
The digital economy is growing. Most of our schools aren't in it.
Youth unemployment in South Africa exceeds 60%. The fastest growing employment sector in the world is digital. Yet most learners in townships and rural areas finish Grade 12 with no practical exposure to the tools businesses use, no coding experience, no idea that a career in technology is something that people who look like them are building right now.
The Kura Digital Foundation Academy closes that gap. We don't wait for the school system to catch up. We bring the future to the school.

Digital Foundations & Building
Learners discover digital careers, set up their professional digital identity, learn workplace tools (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace), build their first website using HTML and CSS, and experience AI as a creation tool. The semester ends with a team Innovation Challenge and showcase.
Coding, Data & Digital Entrepreneurship
Learners write Python code, learn to work with data, integrate AI features into real applications, and package their skills into a commercial offer. The semester ends with a Capstone Showcase and graduation ceremony.

At every school visit, a working technology professional joins us — a developer, data scientist, AI researcher, founder or digital entrepreneur. They share what they built, what they overcame, and what the industry looks like from the inside.
We deliberately select speakers who share backgrounds with the learners we serve — people from townships and rural areas, women in tech, self-taught developers, first-generation professionals. Not to tokenise, but because representation changes what young people believe is possible for them.
The workshop is just the beginning.
Every workshop graduate is enrolled in the free Kura Online Academy — 6 levels of self-paced digital learning on any device.
Top performers compete in regional and national hackathons, with prizes and corporate exposure.
Alumni are referred to internships and bursary opportunities with corporate partners.
Graduates who launch businesses are listed and promoted on the Kura Business Directory.
Outstanding alumni are invited to become Kura Youth Ambassadors, returning to workshops to mentor the next cohort.
